The debut album by Kiwi global wanderer Pip Brown, aka Ladyhawke, is a delightfully anthemic, hand on heart, heart on sleeve, sleeve on plaid shirt bonafied bounty of melodious gems. Taking the irrepressible, brash songwriting of late 70s Fleetwood Mac and melding it with the crisp, cavalier electronic pop music of the 80s, Ladyhawke has made one of the years more assured, unashamedly pop debut albums.

Originally from Wellington, she was a record-obsessed child and grew up under the wing of two very musical parents (step-father a drummer, mother a singer) and ate up everything they regurgitated to her from Stevie Nicks then Joan Jett to Nirvana and Hole with Van Halen and Deep Purple, she became a human encyclopedia of credible pop. After leaving the land of the long white cloud and spending time in Sydney in and out of various bands, before forming the pseudo that is Ladyhawke and establishing herself as an underground idol.

Having lived the last 5 years in Australian and just recently relocating to the UK, Ladyhawke has just finished touring with Soulwax, and is set to play a load of European festivals over the summer, before heading down under to play her first Ladyhawke shows on her former home soil in August before releasing her highky anticipated album debut. From the epicly chorused, shiny synth symphony Back Of The Van, to the footloose and fancy free Gallic gallop of Paris Is Burning, the first two singles from the record are an accurate indication of where Ladyhawke is coming from. Where it's going, to the confident strut of Dusk Till Dawn, to the soaring, heartbreaking Magic, to the tearaway car chase theme rock of My Delerium and beyond, Ladyhawke's self titled debut colours 13 shades of marvellous.
